A Sydney Disc Golf Club Social Event
It was a warm and extremely humid Sunday, but 30 players turned out at the Armory for the first social day event of the year. Winds were calm but the grass was long on parts of the course making scoring a little more tricky. It was great to see so many new players out on the course with a number of first-timers.
It was a close battle for the raw score competition with Priit Koiv (-6) sinking a birdie on the final hole to snatch the win from Liam Brunelli-Brondex (-5). Mathew Lamy and Mario Tolberg were one shot back tied for third.
In the handicap competition, unfortunately many new players were still working towards getting a handicap, so only half the field were able to post a handicap score. The winner on the day was John Soden with a 873 rated round, 56 better than his average rating.

Following the round, the group headed to the hole 2 tee for a closest to the pin (CTP) competition playing to the hole 3 basket. To even the competition, the top players (who scored below par for the round) had to throw with their off hand (i.e., left hand for a normal righty player). This resulted in some very interesting throws. The winner of the CTP was newcomer William Reeves just 2 metres from the basket and Elise Pilon a close runner-up another half metre away.
Following the scheduled activities, a group of 11 players braved the warm, humid conditions for a round on the white layout. Scoring was not exceptional with Priit taking out the win with an 8 under 43 and Jack Lemon just one shot back.
