April 2022 Social Day

A Sydney Disc Golf Club Social Event

After weeks of rain and a flooded course, the April social day was postponed by a week. Fortunately, the weather gods prevailed for Easter Monday and we had 27 players turn up for a round on the fun white layout. And what better way to start the day then with a good ‘ole Easter egg hunt.

The grass was a little long, but the ground had dried out and with no wind, scoring conditions were almost perfect. We had a few basket hits but unfortunately no aces, so the ace pot continues to jackpot – now $373.

In the raw score competition, Paul Comninos backed up his result from last November with an excellent -12, followed closely behind by Priit Koiv and Mat Wallis on -11. It was great to see Matt Ellis back at The Armory, finishing on -10 along with Tom Beanland and Olatundji Akpo-Sani.

In the handicap competition, Tom Beanland’s excellent -10 raw score was the hot round finishing at 34.7, less than 1 shot in front of Benn Kennedy and Paul Comninos.

Following the round, a Disctroyer MR-5 Skylark was up for grabs in the Nearest the Pin competition. The top 10 players from the social round were handicapped in that they couldn’t throw a traditional forehand or backhand, so out came the spike hyzers and thumbers and tomahawks. In the end, the prize went to Jason Rees, just a couple of metres behind the basket and just missing the ace.

Following a random giveaway of more Easter eggs, 15 players headed back out for random group doubles on the 18-hole red layout. The crush duo, Tanner Sleep and Olatundji Akpo-Sani, demonstrating some great shots to dominate the doubles.
