Sydney Disc golf club is a not-for profit organisation whose goal is to develop and grow the sport of disc golf within greater Sydney. Your membership will assist us in achieving this by providing funds to develop new courses, purchase equipment for the club and allow us to organise and run more tournaments. The ongoing costs of running a club, (administration, advertising and printing costs, costs of insurance and registration of the club), mean that we rely on your ongoing support!

HOW DOES OUR MEMBERSHIP FEES COMPARE TO OTHER SPORTING ORGANISATIONS?

One of the big advantages of disc golf is that it is an inexpensive sport to play. When you compare the cost of playing other sports, you can see that membership to the SDGC is a fantastic deal.

Some comparisons:

  • Willoughby Squash Club – $20 per 1-hour session
  • Fitness First gym membership – $50 per fortnight
  • Flatball – $30 per month
  • Inner West Ultimate League – $75 per Season (2-3 months)
  • NSW Ultimate Frisbee Social League – $80 per Season (2-3 months)
  • Castle Hill Indoor Cricket – 12-week season – $210
  • Rosnay Golf club – $550 per year
  • Carnarvon Golf club – $2000 per year

WHY ARE LEAGUE DAY ENTRY COSTS INCREASING?

We at SDGC want to be able to offer you value as a member. This means in the medium term to long term we want to make SDGC a profitable club, and more importantly, the largest disc golf club in Australia, and a club you are proud to be a member of! We look forward to the day where we need to cap league days because there is so many players, or need to offer a morning and afternoon comp, or even more, run a tournament with 200 entrants! We want to be able to offer you a club uniform, the cheapest prices on discs and other accessories, so that you no longer have to buy from overseas suppliers where the shipping costs are as much as the disc itself! We also want to offer better prizes at league day and tournaments. In order to do this we rely heavily on people turning up and playing league days. Presently, this is our major source of income, which in turn, 100% of the fee gets put back into the club. The best way to escape the increase in entry costs is to become a member!

WILL I BE CHARGED TO PLAY SOCIALLY?

Absolutely not! Whether or not you choose to be a paying member, you are always welcome to play at any time. We want the sport to grow, and rely on you as “Disc Golf Ambassadors” to spread the word, bring along friends and family. We encourage you to talk to the general public about disc golf when you’re playing at the Armoury.

ARE YOU STILL NOT SURE?

Feel free to reach out to one of the committee members at league day in person, via our ‘Contact Us’ section at the bottom of the page, or alternatively contact us Facebook.
